Application of computers and networks to information retrieval of document-based information. Particular interests are

Maintains the WWW Virtual Library section on Evaluation of information sources. On the editorial boards of Cybermetrics, the Journal of Web Librarianship, and Information Science Research. .


Alastair is the list owner of the NZ-Libs and ITSIG email discussion groups.

Alastair is also interested in cycling, tramping, and travel. His book, Everyday Cycling in Aotearoa New Zealand, has been published by Awa Press.
