Welcome to Jeff Shima's lab group, based within Te Kura Matauranga Koiora (the School of Biological Sciences) and Te Toka tu Moana (the Coastal Ecology Laboratory) at Te Herenga Waka (Victoria University of Wellington).

Our team

We are a diverse group of ecologists and marine biologists, united by a desire to understand complexity in the sea.

Our research

We study life histories and population dynamics of reef fishes and invertebrates. For details of our current and past research, see the Research and Publications sections of this site.

Our teaching
